2024 County-Level Health Insurance Marketplace Enrollment in Kansas

During the 2024 plan year open enrollment period, a record 171,376 Kansans selected or were automatically re-enrolled in a health insurance plan through the federally facilitated marketplace. This year’s figure represents a 37.7 percent increase from 2023 enrollment (124,473), which itself was a 15.5 percent increase from 2022 enrollment (107,784). A total of 13,433 Kansans selected a standalone dental insurance plan for the 2024 plan year through the marketplace.

On March 22, 2024, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released summary enrollment data for the eleventh open enrollment period of the federally facilitated health insurance marketplace created by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). The open enrollment period lasted from Nov. 1, 2023, to Jan. 16, 2024. Enrollee data report the count of unique consumers who selected or were automatically re-enrolled into a 2024 marketplace health plan (regardless of whether the consumer paid the premium).
